Why 8x8 is a strong beginner showcase
A 5x5 puzzle teaches rules, but an 8x8 puzzle can look like a fish, house, leaf, cat, or heart. That makes App Store screenshots more attractive.
Use overlap first
In an 8-cell line, clues like 6 or 5 have forced overlap in the center. Mark those first to unlock crossing clues.
Then use edges and completed groups
If a filled run touches an edge or can only expand one way, you can often finish that group and mark the separating empty cells.
